What to Expect...

You are always welcome to join us when we meet to worship God. No matter what your background, we will do our best to make you feel comfortable. We see it as an opportunity to get to know you, and an opportunity to share with you our love for God. We are careful not to force our beliefs on anyone, but we are always happy to explain what we believe and why. Be sure to let us know if you have any questions or if there is any way we might be able to help you.

Worship

Our worship is primarily intended as an opportunity for us to praise God. We also use this time to encourage one another in faith and wisdom. Following is a list of the things we usually do together when we meet...

Announcements

One of our elders or another man will usually begin worship by letting us know about opportunities to serve God, and about anyone who may need our prayers. We welcome prayer requests from our visitors.

Singing

In the first century, Christians always sang songs of praise to God and songs of encouragement to one another. We try to follow that example. You may be surprised to find that we do not use musical instruments to accompany our singing. The Bible tells us to make melody in our hearts to God. So, the focus of our music is intentionally spiritual rather than physical.

Prayer

Prayer is an essential part of the life of a Christian. We usually pray together once near the beginning and once at the end of worship. Men who are members of the church lead these prayers.

The Lord's Supper

Every week we remember Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection in the way he instructed. The Lord's Supper consists of unleavened bread (it's like a cracker or pie crust) and grape juice. The bread represents Jesus' body. The grape juice represents Jesus' blood. We pray to thank God for the bread, and then we pass the bread around in a tray and each member of the church eats a piece of it. We then pray to thank God for the grape juice, and pass around another tray with small individual cups of juice.

Collection

Every Sunday, we provide an opportunity for our members to give money to help spread the gospel and to care for needy Christians. However, when you visit, we ask that you please do not give. We are not interested in your money. We're interested in helping you get to heaven. The Collection normally consists of passing around some trays immediately after the Lord's Supper.

Bible Reading

A short section of the Bible will be read out loud and will usually correspond with the sermon that morning. If you would like to follow along in a Bible, there will be one for you to use on the back of the pew in front of you.

Preaching

Our preaching is always grounded in God's word. Expect to have your Bible open (we have plenty of extra Bibles if you don't have one) so that you can learn what God actually says and not just our opinions.

Invitation

At the end of our worship, we will give you an opportunity to become a Christian. Don't worry, we won't pressure you or embarrass you in any way. But, we always want you to know that we're here to help. This is also an opportunity for members of the church to ask for prayers or spiritual encouragement.

Bible Studies

On Sundays and Wednesdays we split up for age-appropriate Bible studies.

Children

Our studies provide children of all ages with a basic comprehensive understanding of the Bible, God, and life as a Christian.

Young Adults

These studies challenge high school students and twenty-somethings to dig deeper into the Word of God. We are currently studying the Book of First Corinthians.

Adults

Adults meet for an open discussion of individual books of the Bible or topics relevant to a Christian's life. We are currently studying the History and Geography of the Bible Story.
